Top Ten Tuesday is a feature that The Broke and The Bookish hosts weekly.
This week is all about the books that you maybe want to read or maybe not. Basically asking is the book worth the hype?
So this is my list. They’re mostly series that I’ve been hearing a lot of things about, but never got around to. So you tell me To Read or Not To Read?
1. Under the Never Sky – I’ve seen this triology around for a while now, but I’m not sold on it yet.
2. The Darkest Minds – The third book is coming out soon, but is it worth starting the series?
3. Across the Universe – The covers are so beautiful.
4. The Girl of Fire and Thorns
5. Shadow and Bone
6. Daughter of Smoke and Bone
7. Angelfall
8. Sweet Evil
9. City of Bones – I’ve actually read this one but it was a really long time ago. I’m not sure if I should re-read it and continue on with the series. I suck at completing series.
10. Mistborn Trilogy – Let’s be real the UK covers are everything.
The Girl of Fire and Thorn books are SO, so good. I loved them. I guess it depends on how you feel about fantasy books.
The Daughter of Smoke and Bone books are quite good as well. They can be a bit slow and intimidating with their size but enjoyable.

I haven’t read a lot of fantasy books, but the ones I have I’ve enjoyed even loved. But for some reason I have a hard time finishing fantasy series. (I basically suck at finishing series altogether, but more with fantasy.) But I’m hoping I’ll be able to finish one of these fantasy series.
Which one would you say is a stronger series?

I’d say Girl of Fire and Thorns is the stronger series.

Under the Never Sky is good but not right away. It took me awhile to get into that one. And I have Shadow and Bone on my list today as well!

Yeah, Shadow and Bone has been just sitting on my shelves for a while now.

Laini Taylor’s books are SO amazing! Her writing and stories are very different from a lot of YA fantasy, but in a good way. She’s so creative and unique with her writing.

That’s what everyone says! I’m dying to know why. I’m actually thinking of trying out that one soon. Hopefully the hype is right. (:

So many of the books you listed are staring at me from my shelf wondering why I haven’t picked them up.
Angel Fall, shadow and Bone, Daughter of Smoke and Bone, Across the Universe, and Under the Never Sky. I think a big reason why I haven’t finished some is I like to wait until a series is complete to read it. Others like Daughter of Smoke and Bone are completed, but Im so scared If I go buy the other books I wont like it. I know dilemma averted if I read the first like it and then go out and buy it, but I like having the complete series before reading.
I can say Sweet Evil is definitely worth the read!

Exactly. I probably have half of these books on my shelf already. I always have to talk myself out of buying sequels to where I haven’t even read the first one. Even though I don’t like to marathon series. I like to have all of them in my hands too.

Starting a series is pretty dubious for me as well as there’s always that chance that you’ll have to drop everything and binge read the entirety of it (but I guess that’s also a plus considering they’re all done with and released?) Of the ones you’ve listed, I’m iffy about The Grisha trilogy despite seeing so many rave things about it (maybe it’s just the whole fantastical element that I’m not so convinced about–derp). But I’d say you can’t go wrong with anything Sanderson.

I haven’t read any of Sanderson’s books yet. But maybe soon then.

I adored Daughter of Smoke and Bone. I loved the characters and I was never expecting what happened to happen and yet when it did it felt right. I’m always nervous about starting a series as I feel pressured to finish it.

Yes! I’m the same way even if I don’t really like the first book. I feel guilty about abandoning the series.
